  • My farewell to Xanga

    My farewell to Xanga

    Grief

I suppose this is the end of my “Life time membership” once Xanga move on …if it is possible. From my side I would like to thank the Xanga Team for almost seven years of blogging experience. I experimented with many sites and Xanga remained my first choice. I always loved the ease with which Xanga worked and I blogged my most treasured thoughts, moments and experiences onto Xanga. With all the other bloggers I experience a sense of grief. Much time was invested into writing on Xanga. I made good friends who walked parts of my life journey with me. I appreciated every comment ever made.

However life is cyclical. Nothing happens without purpose and when doors close new one opens. I hope that Xanga will continue and the I can be part of that process. Moving from Xanga means looking for new ways to communicate, new communities to interact with. Where the path will lead in unclear but the end is always the beginning of a new adventure.

I salute Xanga for the experience
I salute my subscribers for subscribing
I salute those who took the time to actually read and comment on my writing.

The journey here is drawing to a close.
May you all find new ways forward.
For us true Xangans, we will always remain Xangan even if Xanga is no longer.

  • Hate to see you go…….you will be missed!  May not have commented much but always enjoyed your posts

  • @atticusfin - It is not that I want to go…it is Xanga that is most likely to be closed down.

  • Yeah…….saw a bunch of posts after I made the comment.  What a shame ~ I like Xanga

  • It has been a pleasure always, my brothetr, to read your sightful contributions here. It is my sincere wish, that wherever your soul journey takes you it will be ultimately closer to the inner lightt and always with that loyalty of our age old botherhood of the R+C

May Peace be with you always…

  • @Nostra_Damus - Indeed. We stand true to R + C and the cosmic will continue to illuminate our path with light, our world with life and our hearts with love. May peace be with you too.

  • Thank you for always being a kind friend to me here on Xanga! Your site was always a place of peace and learning for me! I won’t forget you!
    HUGS!!!

  • this reminds me of “you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone…”

  • What is this about “Xanga is most likely to be closed down?”  Have I missed something?  At any rate, you will be missed.  Godspeed to you in your travels.

  • Xanga’s discussion of the alternatives to closing down are interesting. I suspect it will be around for a while longer.

  • Dear Jurgens,

I cried real tears when I read your latest comment on my blog. Thank you so much for your “Xangfriendship” for much of the last decade. (Yes, we’ve been here nearly ten years!) I always think of you first when I marvel at the connections I’ve made on Xanga. Without Xanga we’d possibly never have “met”. Some bloggers are merely ciphers to me, constantly changing their usernames, never letting me know who the “person behind the blog” really is. I feel as if I “know” you. We’re spiritual soulmates. I’m sort of handling “double grief” right now. My longtime boss and friend died last week, and I was at his memorial service on Monday. I’ll be writing a “memorial” blog for the Xanga of old, you can count on it. I’ve already started posting some of my more “xangacentric” entries from the past.I will probably blog on Tumblr or WordPress. Or perhaps resurrect my WhenWordsCollide blog on blogger which I began in 2002. (My, I have been blogging for nearly a sixth of my life!) I have been a lot more active on Facebook than on Xanga for the past year, although my FB “posts” are a LOT shorter than my Xanga blogs.Cheers.A “Toast” for the “Toastmaster”.Michael F. • I hope you will tell us where you plan to go so we may follow. I’m having a serious attack of abandonment issues here especially since I will actually have to ‘shop around’ for another

  • I’m glad to have had you as an Xanga friend.

  • @adamswomanback - Lets hope Xanga dont shut down. It is not always the frequency of visits and comments but the fact that we have journeyed together in the same community for such a long time.
@simplespirit - So true. You had been a long time subscriber. Maybe the loss now will lead to more appreciation tomorrow.
@twoberry - The Xanga team posted an entry that they might have to close down. Best is to read the entry yourself. It is not yet a definite but seem like a plausible point of termination.
@tychecat - I hope you are right. Xanga had always been my point of stability in terms of blogging and I truly hope it will find a way to continue.

  • @baldmike2004 - Thank you Mike. I have not decided yet on a new blogging space. I think something within me hope Xanga will still pull a rabbit out of the hut. I drink a toast with you!

  • @Qipao_Queen - Thank you for the link
@aviv2762 - I am currently investigating the other blogging sites. Seems most people favor WordPress. I am finding a few concepts behind Thoughts.com interesting that might serve my style of blogging well. I will try and do an alert before Xanga closes down to let all know where I am going.
@Shining_Garnet - Indeed. I always enjoyed your lists of book you are reading and the beautiful dream catchers you sold online.

  • I am so thankful for xanga.  It was a great experience to be on here and meet so many wonderful people.

  • I been reading your blog for the last couple of years.

It will be a shame if Xanga does closed down.

  • Xanga has been a wonderful place. I don’t think any other site is the same. Take good care. peace always

  • Wait… before you say goodbye, read this

  • There’s no place like Xanga. I’ve had accounts with FB, Twitter, Blogspot, and others, but none come close to Xanga. Jurgens, let us know where you decide to go, and I’m sure many of us will follow. No matter what, gonna miss Xanga, though.

  • @TheTheologiansCafe - Indeed. Everybody agrees that it is not xanga that makes the place but the Xangans.
@my_final_username - Lets hope Xanga does not close down
@peacenow - I will be around to see what Xanga decides to do. If they have the will they can make it survive.
    @justfinethanku - I commented on your ideas.
@dsullivan - Sadly, I agree with you. Xanga had something unique and something that can not be duplicated and that is real bloggers.

  • I’ve never come across another site like Xanga either.

    *hugs*
