Mystical group work
Cyclic progression
Simple observation will reveal many cycles in our daily lives. The yearly cycle is probably the one man was most aware off from ancient times. Leaders of gatherer/hunter groups had to predict where the group must migrate in order to survive. Leaders of human settlements had to predict how much stock to keep to last a winter until the next harvest time. In modern days businesses are still operating within an annual budget cycle. As mystics we know those cycles are more than the seasons of the year, we realize that we all have our own spiritual rhythms. Important for us today is that any collective group working together towards a mystical aim has their own annual cycle starting today.
Any group must have a leadership that ensure the group is operational and active. They must not only ensured the survival of the group but must also ensure that the work of that group is sustainable. I have no doubt in my mind that much had been sacrificed by many leaders for the good of the group. In each the group must be grateful for the leadership, but also assist the leader to keep the group cohesion. The leader must be the inspiration for members to encourage them to adopt the collective ethos of the group.
A leader must contemplate long and hard before responding to the call to serve as leader and assess if he/she is worthy for the role. The call to lead will come at the right time. The right time for leadership is when the leader is overwhelmed with a sense of gratitude that gives birth to an urge to give back that which was received from the group. The leader’s sincere intent is to continue on the firm foundation that was laid by his/her predecessors.
One thing is clear to me: the leader is not the group and the group is not the leader. The leader can set the rhythm of the group but the amplitude is set by the members of the group. The leader can maintain a the group ethos but it is the members that carry out the mission of the group. Going cycle after cycle like a dog chasing its tail is meaningless. We dare not to a cycle and end it without change. Each member must set his/her own personal vision for yearly cycle of the group and fit that within a collective vision of the group.
Firstly the evolution of the each of the members must be looked after and subsequently, and of equal importance, the evolution of the group towards being of greater service to humanity.
Leave it to members to listen to the God of their hearts on how each should evolve themselves, but members should not delay the actions they need to take.
A mystical group has the aim of growth for through growth the group will enrich the experience of each member and deepen our collective mystical experience. The leader’s aim will be to set a rhythm for growth within the group. Members should set for themselves a planned rhythm of attendance and participation in the group’s work. Predictability will form a firm foundation for growth. When a person set his/her resolve clearly then all join hands together to benefit fully from the group as a whole.

You presented some excellent thoughts on leaders and group cohesion, ty. Do you have further specific ideas on how to encourage true leaders, and more/better cooperation among people, either locally or world wide, that you would be willing to share in your posts?
@an_OM_aly - I have many thoughts on group cohesion and leadership. I just wonder where one start to write on such an important subject. Maybe the one important thing for me personally is that in a group one needs to established constructivism. This is basically a philosophical approach that seeks to establish a version of the truth as a group activity and where none of the members have a complete view but together through conversation a deeper perspective can be developed.
Your reply just put into words almost exactly what i could only try to think about. I would appreciate it if you could expand on that in a post, and hopefully our Xanga community would offer their comments/insights. Your good start seems almost perfect for my thoughts concerning local and global cohesion. Thanks again.
Yes, you do have wonderful insights on the role of the leader and of the group members. Mystical group work..interesting. Are you the new Master of the group in the picture on your other post?
