  • The spiritual journey

    The spiritual journey

    A work in progress….

Every journey has its beginning and its end, but one…

The end is not the purpose, but the knowledge gained en route
Each stride an experience with its own fragrance
The trumpet call is but transition

    Awaken! Awaken! Awaken!

Circles within circles – the octave rises
Seek the truth with a heart of innocence
Where the heart is pure the Divine appears
    Boldly giving birth to mirth

Expend energy to build on a stable foundation
The Divine seed incarnate in the earthly body
Creative force is released for benevolence

    Ardour conquers enmity
    Fidelity searches for community
    Gather experience and knowledge
    Prudence avoids rashness
With purity life is augmented with joy
    Withdraw to contemplate

Intuition is possible only with intelligence
The wise route traveled with dignity
Radiate leadership with power, warmth and love
Purge the soul of earthly gross
    Memory awakens conscience
Acknowledge the fruit of your labour

    Silence refreshes the balance
    Experiences weighted on the scale
Retain only the worthy and seek beauty

    Act boldly with courage
    In service offer selflessly
    Advance through indifference

    Become the conduit for flow
Reason exposes error and upholds truth
Aim consciousness towards a worthy goal
    Desire aspiring upward
    Accomplished through insight gained
Universal love born in man’s heart

    Radiate the Magnificent within
    Let compassion encourage cheerfulness
Ever exercising charity towards those in need.
    Find justice within cosmic law
    embrace harmony with all men
    seek and find mystical unification

  • This is cool. Inspirational!  Do you think the spiritual journey has an end?

  • These are all great thoughts.  I especially like this one: “The end is not the purpose, but the knowledge gained en route.”

  • I think that you have succeeded is summing up much of Psalms and Proverbs whether you meant too or not; but I am feeling strongly, “Bring up a child in the way they should go, and they will not part from it.” Or the much used wedding message; “Faith, Hope, and Love; These three remain, but the greatest of these is love.”  I personally do not think this was the concept of carnal love, but the love that feeds the hungry body and spirit.  You have extremely high values, snd surely, we each, long to live a portion of your message.

  • @Zeal4living - That is what I think too.

  • Here’s another one:
The most accurate plan evokes the most efficient coincidence.
    cheers, Michel

  • “Expend energy to build on a stable foundation

I myself emphasize making a stable foundation. Knowing certain divine limitations and earthly limitations is an ongoing process.

I also recognize people have certain spiritual gifts. Learning the limitations and extent of your spiritual gifts is the process of life.

    – I assert that the spirit is not material but eternal in substance.
Physical existence starts at birth and end at death. For the spiritual
essence these are only points of transition. So my belief is that the spiritual journey continues without end but continue to evolve.

  • @songoftheheart - Glad you like the entry. Thank you for commenting
@michelmthomas - Great contribution! Thank you.
@PinkHoneysuckle - My ideals are like the star in a dark sky that guides me forwards. I am not there yet, but can keep on moving in the right direction
@PPhilip - You are so right. What are we without the foundation?

  • The really hard part about the spiritual path is that it is totally ordinary.

People expect fireworks and come away disappointed.

  • @PlatotheSmurf - I am looking so forward to your other thoughts, poems, and life’s wisdom, fo I think we are all looking for something to hold on to right now.  Love and Blessings, Barb Hz

  • @PlatotheSmurf - Life is ordinary … it is only you that can make it extraordinary by by doing something extra

  • @Zeal4living - I was thinking how beneficial it is to just be quiet, to just be nice to people, to just be patient and dependable and honest.

  • @PinkHoneysuckle - You are very thoughtful and kind.  Only no one has ever accused me of writing poetry.  I hope you won’t be disappointed.

  • I enjoyed reading his poem. Sometimes there is clarity on the path and sometimes not. It seems to blur and un-blur for me relatively often. I think you pinned down some excellent ideas and values here, stated fluidly. Thanks for sharing :)
