  • The world as reflection

    The world as reflection

    Pondering moment

I am looking at the world around me and contemplating what this world is saying about me. The history of my web browsing tells a story. There is truth in the notion that our environment reflects something of who we are and who we are becoming. My home office is filled with chaos. Papers stacked up, books, electrical cables etc. If anything it tells me that entropy is on the move.

My house is clean and neat due to my wife's influence but here in my personal space chaos rules. I know where most of the things are but life just move so fast that I often rather sit down, do something than actualy taking the time to declutter and get everything in order. I clean my office thoroughly one or twice a year...but have failed so far to establish a pattern that maintains the order and cleanliness. I enjoy order and prefer order and yet do not keep that order.

I think the time has came to clean up again.

  • Noooooo! You'll never find anything.

  • I rather like the Chaos theory, the butterfly effect. Just don't start a dust storm in the Americas when you begin to tidy up

  • This is an interesting thing to ponder.  I may have to examine myself from this point of view and see where that leads me.

  • LOL!  It sounds like my desk.  Organized chaos is how I refer to it.  But I was just reading that a cluttered environment makes for a cluttered mind, so I really should try to organize today.

  • Einstein said that the universe was chaos in order. I think Einstein might of been referring to you.

  • Looking around my home-office, I find I have to agree with you - entropy is on the move.

I try to organize things every couple of weeks, but somehow things don't stay where they are supposed to be and when I want something, I can seldom recall where I've put it - On the other hand, if I leave things out, I can stir things around until the desired paper, book, tool, etc, comes to the surface.

  • @FrenzElectric - You are most probably right... :(

@an_OM_aly - I will use it as an excuse to maintain the status quo

@C_L_O_G - Sure it will lead to some good things..at least your photo's reflect a person that is intelligent with an eye for beauty.

@songoftheheart - My mind often is cluttered...I like to engage with many things...so unfortunately it leads to some scattered thinking.

  • @catstemplar2 - I often ponder how a conversation with Einstein will go...I must write about that some time.... maybe a series on conversations with men no longer with us.

@tychecat - I use the HEAP sytem...you stack one thing on top of the other..and then remember where is the bottom and the top...and the rest can easily be found somewhere in between.

  • my influence does not extend to the spouse, I guess we're just both chaotic.

  • yep, time to clean :D

  • I enjoy cleanliness, but too lazy to do the cleaning activities.
