Giving up on Xanga?
Xanga histeria
Blogging
I am seriously contemplating moving my #Xanga permanently. Other people moan about the hatred...I see the community. Some people hate the interface I love the interface. Some complain about trolls, I have no trolls. Some are unhappy about how how top blogs work, I do not need my blog to be a top #blog.....so why do I want to leave. I love Xanga, I love its layout and I love the friends I have.
But for months now I am complaining about a problem which seems unique to me. Maybe it is because I am blogging from South Africa....I can not figure it out but Xanga is simply no longer working for me and it is getting worse. With every second click I click on Xanga I am dropped out to this page:
Sometimes I have to click more than ten times before I get through to a friend's page. I simply do not have time to sit and click, click, click, click..... click until I get through. I hate it, it frustrates me and it is pushing met to say...maybe I need to find another place where I do not have to waste time and effort. It has taken me a struggle of ten minutes to open one page. I thought initially it is a problem with Xanga's server capacity but I have not heard of any other Xangans complaining. I am fed up with it and tired. I want to enjoy my blogging experience and it is becoming a frustration. I like to return a visit to people who commented on my blog but it becomes a mission in itself every time. I tried Explorer, FireFox and Google crome and get the same problem every time. So it is not a compatibility issue. I do not have the same experience on any of the other sites on which I am active - which includes other blogging sites. I highlighted it to @TheXangaTeam but got no response.
Maybe it is time to move on ....I don't know, I am frustrated.

Any body having similar problems? Any advice?

I had that problem a few months back but came right after a few days. I think a main server somewhere along my IP chain was being upgraded. I'm blogging from NZ. You will know where that is because it's where your Springboks are gonna get their butts kicked by our All Blacks. Mind you, that's if they survive Fiji and Samoa.
That sucks! I hope it resolves itself soon! Interesting to know where you blog from!
Good luck in resolving your issue. It'd suck to see you leave because of this.
I'm sorry you're dealing with that frustration. I hope it's just a server upgrade or something similar that will work itself out. If you do abandon Xanga, I'd still like to follow your blog, so let us know where you jump ship to.
You're not the only one. It's been happening to me too. It happens sometimes when I go to view someones post, or when I leave a comment. It's pretty annoying, but I hope you don't leave and I hope Xanga fixes it.
Oh no! Good luck; hopefully the Xanga team will listen!
open command prompt and type this exactly this way. tracert http://www.xanga.com
You'll be able to see the jumps from server to server it takes to get from your pc to xanga.com. I'll wager it's hanging on a gateway server from South Africa to the US.
I've been having that problem for the past week. Need to get it together, my brother. Concentrate and draw enery from within. This is mere peanuts compared to some of the real problems we may face in the outside world out there. Besides, if you leave, I won't have a frater to exchange my views in the ways of the light.
Please don't go. Please don't go. Please...!!! Stay please.
I hope that problem gets fixed soon. I have it here and there... and yes I get it's very annoying. I hope the glitch gets fixed so you don't have to leave.
Oh no! That sucks. I'm sorry. :(
Sometimes I came across the same problem. Sometimes I have no access to the NET at all. It's probably a geographic factor... I don't know? But I know for sure that I only met you on Xanga 2, 3 days ago, I enjoy reading your blog-posts. So, please don't go.
It sounds like you're not the only one experiencing this problem. I hope that it gets fixed soon and that you do not leave Xanga. But if you do, please let me know where you end up.
This sometimes happens. However, when it happens, it is up to us whether it justifies us leaving or not. I will not convince you one way or the other as it your personal choice. If you do leave Xanga, I want to let you know that I appreciate your honesty with your spirituality and practice.
@FrenzElectric - Ha ha, we will have to wait and see what is the end result!! The All Blacks are looking hungry and the Springbokke has lots of injuries...we hope our the team can pull it through...
@DivaJyoti - I have written a few times about blogging from South Africa, but not often.... I guess it is not that interesting. I just felt frustrated.
@Celestial_Teapot - I got such nice replies that I will probably hang on for some more time....I just hope Xanga can keep up a basic level of performance. Thank you for the message.@songoftheheart - I am just complaining. I have never considered before to leave Xanga since I am happy with Xanga...As an person intimately involved in Information technology I see red when a service provider allows performance issues to become a trademark. I will definitely let all know if I am on the move..however it will not be now. For now it is just a rumble of discontent.
@Shining_Garnet - Eureka!! At least I do not feel so alone...I thought Xanga put me on some dead server in the corner where only dust is gathering. I will stick along for a while...How can I leave a community that is full of so many great people.
@AmeliaHart - I am going to send the Xanga team a message every day...maybe something will happen.
@Da__Vinci - Thank you for the advice and link. It can not be a server along the root because other pages open up normally...it is just Xanga that has a problem....so I think it is bad service from Xanga.
@The_Eyes_Of_A_Painter - Well now there is an argument for which I have new counter argument...seems I will have to stay, if only for your reason....
@Zeal4living - You should still try it. Sometimes a gateway server will have issues with an oversea's IP. At least you could provide Xanga with some info which may help them understand the issue.
@RestlessButterfly - Now how does one say no to such words?
@pinktiger335 - I share your hope, I really do not want to leave Xanga.
@ordinarybutloud - Yes, it SUCKS!!! It is not often that I get into a bad mood..so I must apologize for ranting.@Broom_Service - I will hang in for a while longer and see if Xanga shapes up its service.
@Christenstein - Thank you for the kind words, they are really appreciated.
I second Da_Vinci's suggestion - First you might check your xanga address . I suspect the problem is an overloaded xanga server. Do you ever get a response from xanga ?
I never have any trouble accessing you though, - except sometimes slow - so the problem might be a faulty address issue
Hopefully they will solve the problems so you'll stay.
Hi Jurgens,
I hope you are well!
A few years ago I had problems just by blogging with a Mac. I had to write the posts on html and it was boring to say the least. Now I have a PC so it's so much easier.
Some months ago I decided to change the username of another xanga site I have so I've purchased some credits with my mobile phone. After spending the money the credits never came to my account, so I started emailing xanga team, with no success. Until one day they reply and gave me much more credits than those I needed. So overall, my experience on contacting xanga team was good =)
I hope they solve your problem as I wouldn't like to "loose you"! I love xanga and mostly I love the wonderful people I meet here, such as you. It's a confort to me knowing that I always have such good friends somewhere in the world.

Does the problem also happen when you are using a different computer? Just curious. Have any upcoming trips outside South Africa? Long, long shot, I know. But could try logging on from a different location. Heck, if you manage any servers outside of your country, you could remotely test that out hehe. For that matter if you have a friend outside the country who would be willing to let you remote into their PC just to try loading some pages in xanga... I'm digging in left field, I know. I hope it resolves soon!!!
@tychecat - I did not get any response from Xanga. I do not think it is a general problem from South Africa because all my other international pages and sites work fine. It is only Xanga that has the problem. I also experience the same thing from different computers.
@beauty_is_truths_smile - I hope so too, must say since writing this post...I have not had the problem
@WhataWonderfulNewWorld - Thank you for the feedback regarding the Xanga team...I will have to do more to communicate my problem to them.
@everyday_yogi - I have not travelled a lot lately and did not test logging in from other countries. I know the problem is only linked to Xanga and no other sites.
Hey I haven't been here in "forever".. at least for more than an entry or two *grin* Trust me, xanga is the best! It's not over-run by chaos and confusion, small 'bursts' of this one likes this, that one over there said this, "Likes" this, etcetera. Its real, its always working well (other than your issue currently) and its great that you are able to fully customize it! That's the best in my opinion! Plus we are not limited in what we say, or how many characters it takes us to say it! I'm too long winded to be able to do a great post on few words lol
Although I left for a while, I'll never leave for good. It's "Home" here. Always cozy and close-knit for those of us life-ers.. (new word there hehehe)
I had the same issue a while back, sometimes if I just refreshed the page it worked. Only other thing I'd say is - have you tried clearing your cache? Maybe it has something to do with that?
Blessings & hugs, ~me
The whole thing you say is true, I ponder thus
